Elizabeth Hurley was born on June 10, 1965, in Basingstoke, Hampshire, England, to teacher Angela Mary Hurley and major Roy Leonard Hurley of the Royal Army Educational Corps. She has two siblings, an elder sister, Kate Hurley, and a younger brother, Michael James Hurley.
Hurley went to nearby schools such Kempshott Infant School, Kempshott Junior School, and Harriet Costello School. She completed A-levels in English, Sociology, and Psychology in 1983. Later, she studied dance and drama at the London Studio Centre, hoping to become a professional dancer. She is of English and Irish origin and follows Christianity.
